Sometimes they help him figure out other cas Rating: Jazz is such a captivating protagonist. If you knew you could run really fast, wouldn’t you? The three teenagers may have tendencies to act their age, but the story is not told in such a way as to make it seem corny or even teen-geared.
Especially when the killers methods strike too close to home for comfort! That said, I watch and read a lot of horror and detective stories, and while I have my triggers, I might be more inured to the graphic nature of the murders in this book than the average person.
Then again that is just my opinion. I think that fans of the Dexter and Criminal Minds tv shows would also appreciate this book. But I always wake up and my throat is sore and I am on the other side of the bed, practically crawling over my hubbs to ‘get away.
This book had such a sinister feel to it. Lyga has developed his story and characters very well and keeps the plot moving forward, including some twists near the end that will push readers to get their hands on the next novel, if only to learn more about what is going on.

He is traumatized inwardly by his past and what his father made him do. I adored this guy! What are the similarities between all of them?
The audio version was spot on and Charlie Thurston’s narration made the story come alive!
I thought Lyga did an excellent job telling the story from the POV of a charming but disassociated teenager, always an outsider, looking in on others as if observing a lesser or alien species. A lot of humor is also added by Jazz’s grandmother, with whom he lives. I had no idea there were so many, and that so many were so disturbing.
